As of March 2025, the minimum gross wage in Macedonia was increased to 36,037 MKD. However, it is important to note that this is not the total amount that employees will receive as their net salary. This process involves various deductions, such as contributions for pension and health insurance, as well as personal income tax.
How are the contributions calculated?
Contributions for the minimum wage are calculated based on the gross amount of 36,037 MKD. They include:
- Pension Insurance Contribution (18.8%): 6,775 MKD
- Health Insurance Contribution (7.5%): 2,703 MKD
- Professional Healthcare Contribution (0.5%): 180 MKD
- Employment Contribution (1.2%): 432 MKD
In total, these contributions amount to 10,090 MKD.
Personal Income Tax
After the deductions for contributions, the personal income tax is calculated. The formula applied is: (Gross wage – Contributions – Tax reduction) × 10%. For example, if the gross minimum wage is 36,037 MKD, with 10,270 MKD in deductions, the personal income tax will amount to 1,568 MKD.
Final Result: Minimum Net Salary
